[00:00:04] Speaker A: This is STM Daily News and this is the News Brief Podcast. Today we're looking at the future of the Dodger Gondola project. The proposed LA Art system, a 1.2 mile aerial gondola connecting Union Station to Dodger Stadium, was once pitched as a fast zero emission way to move thousands of fans on game days. But in 2025, the ride has become rough. The Los Angeles city council voted 12 to 1 to oppose the project, saying it threatens green space, historic neighborhoods and benefits private developers more than the public. A state appeals court also threw out Metro's original environmental review, forcing a new supplemental study. Meanwhile, community groups in Chinatown, Solano Canyon and around the state historic park are demanding more transparency, raising concerns about tree removal, noise and the long term cost of maintaining the system. Metro is still reviewing public comments and state lawmakers are debating whether to streamline approval. But for now, the Dodger Gondola is stuck in political and legal limbo. [00:01:18] Speaker B: Thank you for tuning in and being part of this community. No matter where you're listening from, whether you're in Phoenix, Arizona, Southern California, somewhere else in the states, or tuning in from around the world, I appreciate you spending this time with me.
